Do you ever feel like you’re not getting the best bang for your buck when it comes to your hosting company?

Me too.  And is why I made the (fantastic) decision to switch from Bluehost to TMDHosting during the early stages of my blog.

Now, there were three main reasons I felt I wasn’t getting the most from my hosting company – price, support, and speed.

Luckily, though, switching WordPress hosts is incredibly easy and 100% saved my website.

If you feel like you’re being duped by your hosting company (like I was), it’s definitely time to evaluate what your host is lacking and switch to a WordPress host who checks all your boxes.

To decide if your current WordPress host is living up to expectations, let’s go over three things today:

1.  Pricing

2.  Customer + Technical Support

3.  Website Speed + Responsiveness

You see, before I switched from Bluehost to TMDHosting, I was constantly encountering issues with my website such as lagging and crashing pages.

And, long story short (here’s the full story), I came to the conclusion that I was not getting what I was paying for and made the switch.

So, let’s see if you’re experiencing the same things with your current host and get you on your way to switching hosts so you don’t give up on blogging like I almost did!

1.  ARE YOU PAYING TOO MUCH FOR YOUR CURRENT WORDPRESS HOSTING?

So, there are many types of hosting plans available to you, depending on your blogs needs, including WordPress Hosting, Shared Hosting, and Cloud Hosting (my personal recommendation).

TMDHosting, Bluehost, and SiteGround all offer most of these hosting plans for the following prices:

TMDHosting

  • WordPress Hosting: $2.95/month
  • Shared Hosting: $2.95/month
  • Cloud Hosting: $5.95/month

Bluehost

  • WordPress Hosting: $3.95/month
  • Shared Hosting: $3.95/month
  • Cloud Hosting: Not Offered

SiteGround

  • WordPress Hosting: $3.95/month
  • Shared Hosting: $3.95/month
  • Cloud Hosting: $80.00/month

As you can see, TMDHosting offers the lowest prices overall for all of their hosting plans.

So, if you’re paying more than $2.95/month for WordPress/Shared Hosting or more than $5.95/month for Cloud Hosting, you 100% need to switch WordPress hosts.

2.  IS YOUR HOSTS TECHNICAL SUPPORT TEAM ACTUALLY SUPPORTIVE?

The main reason I left Bluehost is because I wasn’t getting the technical support that I was paying for.

If you didn’t know, your web host is responsible for managing all technical aspects of your WordPress blog.

So, if your website is crashing or you need to add a line of HTML code somewhere and can’t figure out how, your web host should be available to help you.

And, better yet, a good host will fix the problems for you (instead of relaying complicated steps to you so you can fix it yourself).

switch WordPress hosts

You pay for your host for a reason and you deserve to get what you are paying for.

Because I wasn’t getting what I was paying for from Bluehost, I switched to TMDHosting.

And, WOW!

TMDHosting’s customer + technical support teams are SPECTACULAR.

The other day, for example,  I needed to add “https” to the beginning of my domain name, so I put in a ticket with TMDHosting’s technical support team.

Within an hour, I got an email back telling me that they had added it for me and was good to go.

See, AMAZING.

If your WordPress host isn’t making your blogging life easier, it is seriously time to switch WordPress hosts.  (I 100% would have quit blogging if I stayed with Bluehost.)

3.  IS YOUR WEBSITE FAST?

We can all agree that we want fast websites that never crash, right?

I mean, there is nothing worse than excitedly clicking on a dope pin from Pinterest only to have to wait and wait and wait for the post to load.

So, how do you make sure that your website doesn’t do that?

You’ve gotsta host with a company that provides 32x faster website speeds than its competitors.

Yep, you read that right – TMDHosting is 32x faster than other hosting companies due to their crazy fast SSD servers. (Bluehost does not have these servers.)

TMDHosting also guarantee’s a 99.999% up-time for all their sites.

So, if your website is loading unbearably slow or is crashing frequently, switching WordPress hosts is the best thing you can do for your blogs reputation and success.

Speed up your social site in 15 minutes

HOW TO SWITCH WORDPRESS HOSTS

So, maybe you’ve been paying too much to host your blog.  Or, you aren’t getting the support and speed that you’re paying for.

Luckily for you, though, switching WordPress hosts is incredibly easy and can be done with ZERO downtime.

Now, my assumption moving forward is that you’re switching to TMDHosting for their low prices, awesome support, and crazy fast speeds.

So, to switch WordPress hosts, follow these simple steps:

1.  Visit TMDHosting + purchase one of their hosting plans using code “GREEN” to save 5% at checkout.

2. Put in a ticket with their technical support team asking them to transfer your WordPress site for you.

And….then…you’re done.

It really is as simple as that.  My website was transferred within 24 hours and my blog did not experience any downtime, as promised.

switch WordPress hosts

If you just started a blog and feel like you wanna rip your hair out every single time you sit down to work, I FEEL YOU.

I felt like this when I was hosting with the wrong company because my website never worked correctly.

And, if you feel duped by all the bloggers out there promoting Bluehost, I HELLA FEEL YOU.

I was and still am so confused by the promotion of Bluehost.

So, if you’ve been overpaying for hosting, have zero support from your host, or have a slow website, I urge you to make the switch.

I promise, you won’t regret it.

Did you make the switch to TMDHosting?  Tell us about your experience in the comments!

Happy blogging!

xx Michelle

It was in my fourth month blogging full-time when I truly realized the importance of traffic if you want to make money blogging.

And, fortunately, I quickly found a method to get blog traffic that works fast and is easy to learn.

Now, I am generating over 42,500 page views in my fifth month blogging, all thanks to several epic Pinterest strategies and a manual pinning method.

how to get blog traffic from pinterest

Some of the links in this post are “affiliate links.” This means if you click on the link and purchase the item, I will receive an affiliate commission.

Unfortunately, as much as the “big” bloggers like to tell you that you can make money blogging without thousands of pageviews, it isn’t a realistic truth for most bloggers – especially new bloggers.

The good news is, though, is that you can make a lot of money blogging if you increase your blog traffic and take advantage of as many income streams as possible – including, but not limited to:

Cuz, I mean, let’s think about it.

The more times somebody see’s your affiliate link or your product’s landing page, the more likely somebody is going to purchase something.  So, it makes sense that you need a ton of page views to see conversions, especially when the average conversion rate is just 2%.

With this realization in mind, I’ve focused most of my blogging attention recently into increasing blog traffic with Pinterest, resulting in 42,574 page views during our fifth month blogging (all thanks to these tips + tricks.)

So, are you ready to get blog traffic from Pinterest quick + easy?

HOW TO GET BLOG TRAFFIC FROM PINTEREST (42,500 PAGE VIEWS IN 31 DAYS)

how to get blog traffic from pinterest

As I mentioned, Who Says What was able to get over 40,000 page views in one month due to two things:

  1. Crucial Pinterest methods
  2. Manual Pinning Strategy

Once I began implementing the following Pinterest tips and a manual pinning strategy, my blog traffic instantly spiked – going from an average of 200 page views a day to over 600 page view per day.

As you can see, our blog traffic substantially increased when we started using this new Pinterest strategy.

But, before we jump into the manual pinning strategy, let’s make sure your Pinterest account is set up for success.

THE 12 PINTEREST TIPS YOU CAN’T MISS IF YOU WANT TO INCREASE BLOG TRAFFIC

Now, before you can start pinning on Pinterest to generate traffic, you need to set up your Pinterest for success.

You’ll also need to master the art of creating a viral pin.

So, to do that, here are the 14 critical tips you need to master Pinterest before you begin manually pinning for traffic.

If you have a personal Pinterest account, I highly recommend starting a brand new Business Pinterest account for your blog instead of trying to convert your personal Pinterest into a business account.

Creating a business account for your blog is crucial because it will give you access to Pinterest analytics and the ability to run ads.  And, bonus!  It is completely FREE (and easy)!

To create a business account for your blog, click here.

2.  Apply for Pinterest Rich Pins

Rich pins are sooooo important to stand out on Pinterest as a business instead of a casual user.

Rich pins make using Pinterest more enjoyable and associate your account with a more profesional brand, so get started with rich pins for your blog, click here.

3.  Add eye-grabbing and on-brand Pinterest profile picture

This step is pretty self explanatory, but you want to have an eye-catching and profesional Pinterest profile so people can easily recognize your brand and associate it with your kickass blog.

Use a 165 x 165 Canva template to create your Pinterest profile picture.

If you have a profesional camera, experiment with taking headshots in front of a bright background or outside for bright lighting.  Make sure to stick to your brand and you’ll be golden!

4.  Include niche-related keywords in Pinterest name

I’m sure you’ve noticed that most bloggers include keywords after their blog name in their profile.  Something to this effect:  BLOG NAME | Blogging Tips + Pinterest Marketing Ideas.

This is smart + you should do it, too.

Including keywords related to your niche in your profile name makes it easier for people to find you when they search for said keywords.

5.  Write keyword-rich profile description

Similar to your Pinterest profile name, you want to include keywords in your profile description.

Here is an example of ours: “Intentional living ideas, ethical living tips, personal growth inspiration, and financial freedom tips to turn your stressful life into your best life!”

If you have a popular freebie, post, or product, it is also a smart idea to link to it in your description.

how to get blog traffic from pinterest

6.  Create niche-related boards with keyword-rich descriptions

Let’s state the obvious:  Nobody is going to follow you on Pinterest if you don’t have niche-related boards that are filled with awesome + relevant content.

So, to start your Pinterest profile off on the right foot, create 30-50 boards that are titled with keywords and have keyword-rich descriptions.

7.  Add relevant pins to boards

Once you’ve created 30-50 Pinterest boards, you need to fill them with related pins to ensure that Pinterest understands what your boards are about.

To easily fill your new boards with related pins, click into a board and then select “More ideas.”  Then, scroll through the related pins that Pinterest suggests and press the plus button to add them to your board.

Aim to have at least 50 related pins in each of your boards before you add any of your own pins to them.  This increases the odds that Pinterest will recognize quickly what your pin is about and who to show it to.

8.  Create 2-5 optimally sized Pinterest pins for every post

It is crucial that you create your pins in a size that is best optimized for Pinterest.  If your pin is too small, it won’t get noticed. If it is too big, important words and calls to action will be cut off.

So, Pinterest recommends that you create pins that are 600 x 900, however I use a pin layout on Canva that is 600 x 1250.  I find that this larger size performs better on Pinterest and none of it gets cut off.

I highly recommend that you create multiple pin templates in Canva so when it comes to designing your 2-5 pins per post, it isn’t as time consuming.

9.  Use original images (not free stock photos) for your pins

So, it may seem like a pretty miniscule thing, but using original photos instead of free stock photos for your pins is a key way to get them to show up on people’s feeds more often.

I’m sure you’ve noticed it:  Different pins from different bloggers with the same image, but different words.  This is because the image they used is a free stock photo that everybody on the internet has the same access to, such as one found on Pexels.com or Pixabay.com.  This is bad because when Pinterest is looking for related pins to attach to your pin, it will pull other pins with the same images – even if they are unrelated.

Doing this HURTS your pins.

So, to avoid using images that other bloggers have likely already used on their pins, sign up for Shutterstock.

how to get blog traffic from pinterest

10.  Use bold, bright, and easy-to-read fonts on pins

Just as important as the images you use on your pins are the words you place on them.

First, it is key that you stick to using 2-3 easy to read fonts.

Also, make sure your words are big enough to be read on mobile devices!  Think about using bright colors or bolded fonts to emphasive important words on your pin.

Then, once you’ve decided on the fonts you want to use, make sure to write compelling titles that make people want to click, like these ones.

11.  Include a call to action on every single pin

So, you’ve created a pin thus far that has an original image and impelling + easy-to-read words on it.

But, to encourage people even more to click your pin (or visit your profile), you need to add a call-to-action to every single pin, like these ones.

12.  Include your logo on every single pin

It is super important that you add your trademark to every single pin you publish on Pinterest.

This is key for two reasons:

1.  So people can identify your brand + follow your profile

2.  To decrease the liklihood that your pins are stolen (yes, this is a very real and very annoying reality)

Adding your trademark to your pins is as simple as writing your website url on the bottom of each pin.  Or, you can add your logo.

how to get blog traffic from pinterest

13.  Add your pin to Pinterest with keyword-rich file name, title, and description

You MUST save you pin images to your computer with a file name that INCLUDES KEYWORDS!

Then, add your pins to Pinterest and create a keyworded title + description.

14.  Save your pin to a relevant board

Finally, save your pin to a RELATED + RELEVANT board! DO NOT ADD TO A GENERIC GROUP BOARD!

If you pin/post is about dealing with anxiety DO NOT add it to a group board titled “Best Bloggers On Pinterest.”

This is a very important step in ensuring that Pinterest knows what your pin is about and who to show it to.

So, now that you know the basics (if you can call them that) of Pinterest and are ready to start engaging on the platform.

Your rate of engagement will directly reflect your page views, so let’s jump into the best way to pin on Pinterest to increase page views.

HOW TO GET BLOG TRAFFIC FROM PINTEREST WITH A MANUAL PINNING STRATEGY

So, what is this epic pinning strategy that has helped us increase our page views by roughly 10,000 users a month?

Well, we increased our blog traffic by 350% during our first month and by 26% our second month with a manual pinning strategy laid out in the eBook Pinteresting Strategies.

See, before purchasing Carly’s SUPER affordable eBook, Pinteresting Strategies, I followed the blog traffic advice that you hear from most bloggers:

  1. Create + set up a Pinterest Business Account
  2. Create awesome pins with Canva
  3. Join targeted Pinterest group boards with PinGroupie
  4. Use Tailwind to schedule pins

I followed these steps month after month, joining countless group boards, making tons of awesome pins, but we never get more than 7,500 page views in a single month.  What the heck!

Finally, enough was enough, so I scoured Pinterest to find another way to increase blog traffic.  (A strategy without Tailwind because I wasn’t convinced that it was all that every body cracks it up to be).  I found tons of reviews on Pinteresting Strategies and after reading a few encouraging posts, I invested the $47 and bought it for myself.

Guys…BEST $47 I HAVE I EVER SPENT.  I mean, you can see in the screenshot below of our blog traffic from Pinterest – Carly’s manual pinning strategy works.  And it works FAST.

how to get blog traffic from pinterest

HOW TO GET BLOG TRAFFIC FROM PINTEREST USING A MANUAL PINNING STRATEGY + TAILWIND

So, as I mentioned, the Pinterest strategy that you will learn from Pinteresting Strategies is a manual pinning strategy, meaning that it will take you time.  Like hours and hours of time.  Every single day.

However, I quickly realized that I could not manage 4-6 hours of manual pinning + writing blog posts + having a life, so I combined Carly’s manual pinning strategy with usage of Tailwind to create a Pinterest routine that shows great results but doesn’t take a ton of time.

See, you might remember me mentioning that I wasn’t convinced that Tailwind is all that it is hyped up to be.  Well, I was wrong.  I was simply using Tailwind wrong (and you probably are too if you have poor page views).  But, after reading the eBook Pinteresting Strategies and learning + implementing the Pinterest SEO tips that are crucial to your success, I began to see booming results from Tailwind.

Here is an overview of how I use both a manual pinning strategy + Tailwind to increase blog traffic every single month:

STEP ONE:  Login to Tailwind >> Publisher >> Your Schedule and create a pinning schedule of anywhere from 30-150 pins per day (depending on how many pins you have, boards you contribute to, etc – DON’T SPAM!)

STEP TWO:  Tailwind >> Publisher >> Board Lists and organize your group boards and personal boards by category to make pinning easier

STEP THREE:  Login to Google Analytics >> Acquisition >> Social >> Network Referrals >> Pinterest to see your top viewed posts/pages and the associated pins that bring you traffic (you will learn tons about this in Pinteresting Strategies)

STEP FOUR:  Use the information from step three about your top posts/pins to schedule new copies of your original pins using the Tailwind Extension for Google Chrome

STEP FIVE:  After scheduling your top pins from your tops posts, go back to Tailwind >> Scheduled Pins and shuffle your pins.  Doing this once a month accounts for the majority of my pinning on a daily basis.

STEP SIX:  To support Tailwind, (and to engage on Pinterest), manually pin 2-4 times per day for 30-60 mins (using Carly’s Pinteresting Strategies) but ONLY pin to YOUR PERSONAL BOARDS to avoid spamming group boards.  I found that just pinning to my personal boards when manually pinning cut down the time spent doing so because you no longer have to monitor what boards you are pinning to.

I have been following this blended pinning strategy for two months now and have seen my blog traffic skyrocket substantially from about 7,000 page views per month to over 42,500 page views in a single month.

If you want to increase blog traffic as quickly as possible, do not wait to purchase Pinteresting Strategies.

Our blog traffic through Pinterest (and Tailwind) was at a standstill month after month, never even getting 200 page views per day, let alone thousands.

Now, after reading “Pinteresting Strategies” and using the tips from Carly’s eBook we initially increased blog traffic by 350% in just 30 days.  The information in this eBook is gold, and is the reason for our 42,500+ page views in the month of January.

Seriously, do not hesitate to purchase Pinteresting Strategies if you want to increase your blog traffic quickly.

Are you ready to try Pinteresting Strategies to increase blog traffic with Pinterest?  You WON’T be disappointed with the results!

HAPPY PINNING!

I see this question a lot:  Does the amount of Pinterest followers you have matter?

Well, increasing your following on Pinterest will undoubtedly increase your reach on the platform, and, will increase your blog traffic in return.  So, while it isn’t crucial to have a huge Pinterest following to be a successful blogger, increasing your following will only ever benefit you, so why not, right?

But, how do get more Pinterest followers quickly + easily?

You can increase Pinterest followers by following 3 simple steps to ensure that your Pinterest account is set up for optimal success.

Because, let’s face it, nobody is going to follow a boring Pinterest account.  (We’re not boring and you should totally follow us!)

increase pinterest followers - increase pinterest followers tips - increase pinterest followers social media - increase pinterest followers business - increase pinterest followers website

Some of the links in this post are “affiliate links.”  This means if you click on the link and purchase the item, I will receive an affiliate commission.

Our Pinterest following has been steadily increasing over the past two months, all of which happened after we changed up how we were using Pinterest.

We redesigned our Pinterest profile + pins, changed up how we were using Tailwind, and began experimenting with a manual pinning strategy; three things that I can confidently say increased our Pinterest following dramatically.

After all was said and done, our Pinterest account saw an increase in 1,221 followers in January 2018 and dramatically increased our page views, too. (From 34,000 page views to 43,000 page views.)

So, to get more Pinterest followers on your account, you need to focus on three main things:

1.  Your Pinterest Profile

2.  Your Pinterest Pins

3.  Your Pinterest Pinning Game

Focusing on transforming these three aspects of your Pinterest game will ensure that more people click that follow button on your profile!

HOW TO INCREASE PINTEREST FOLLOWERS

PART 1:  YOUR PINTEREST PROFILE

Before all else, it is super important to create a solid Pinterest profile that is easily discoverable and that people will want to follow.

To set up your Pinterest profile, follow these 7 steps to create a profile worthy of gaining followers:

1.  Create business account

2.  Apply for rich pins

3.  Add eye-grabbing + professional profile picture

4.  Include niche related keywords in Pinterest name

5.  Write keyword rich profile description

6.  Create niche-related boards

7.  Add related pins to boards

These seven steps seem straight-forward, but I’m going to dive a little deeper into each one because it is crazy how many small details that I never thought mattered, matter.  And, once I paid more attention to these details, our followers spiked.

1  //  CREATE BUSINESS ACCOUNT ON PINTEREST

If you have a personal Pinterest account, I highly recommend starting a brand new Business Pinterest account for your blog instead of trying to convert your personal Pinterest into a business account.

Creating a business account for your blog is crucial because it will give you access to Pinterest analytics and the ability to run ads.  And, bonus!  It is completely FREE (and easy)!

2  //  APPLY FOR RICH PINS

Rich pins are sooooo important to stand out on Pinterest as a business instead of a casual user.

There are four types of rich pins, including, app, product, recipe, and article pins.  These types of pins give users much more information directly from the pin than non-rich pins.

For, example, if you post an article rich pin, users will instantly be able to see who the author is, what the title of the article is, and a description of the article.

Likewise, if you post a recipe rich pin, users can see the ingredient list, cooking time, and serving size without ever clicking the pin.

Rich pins make using Pinterest more enjoyable and associate your account with a more profesional brand, so get started with rich pins for your blog, click here.

3  //  ADD EYE-CATCHING PROFILE PICTURE

This step is pretty self explanatory, but you want to have an eye-catching and profesional Pinterest profile so people can easily recognize your brand and associate it with your kickass blog.

I used our WSW logo with a bright yellow background from my brand as a profile picture, which I quite enjoy.  I created our image using a 165 x 165 Canva template.

If you have a profesional camera, experiment with taking headshots in front of a bright background or outside for bright lighting.  Make sure to stick to your brand and you’ll be golden!

4  //  CREATE PINTEREST NAME WITH KEYWORDS

I’m sure you’ve noticed that most bloggers include keywords after their blog name in their profile.  Something to this effect:  BLOG NAME | Blogging Tips + Pinterest Marketing Ideas.

This is smart + you should do it, too.

Including keywords related to your niche in your profile name makes it easier for people to find you when they search for said keywords.

For instance, if somebody searches “Blogging Tips” and then selects “people,” your blog is more likely to show up if you have the words “Blogging Tips” in your Pinterest name (and in your description).

You can see an example of our Pinterest name from the screenshot in step three.  Keep in mind that Who Says What is a lifestyle blog, so keywords for us can vary from topic to topic.

To find the best keywords to include in your Pinterest profile name, simply use the search bar on Pinterest to search for your niche.

HOW TO GET PINTERSET FOLLOWERS - HOW TO GET PINTEREST FOLLOWERS TIPS - HOW TO GET PINTEREST FOLLOWERS FAST - HOW TO GET PINTEREST FOLLOWERS ONLINE BUSINESS2

For example, let’s pretend you’re starting a blog about veganism.  You can search the term ‘vegan’ on Pinterest and receive tons of related keywords.  So, you should write a profile name that looks like this:

  • Go Vegan | Vegan Lifestyle Tips + Vegan Recipes
  • Veganism Is Awesome | How To Go Vegan Tips + Vegan Lifestyle Inspiration

Use the search bar to get an idea of the popular keywords for your niche and include them in your profile description to increase your search-ability + get more followers!

PRO TIP:  If Pinterest is telling you that your profile name is too long, edit it on your phone!  For some reason, you don’t have any limitations to your name when editing on a smartphone.

5  //  WRITE KEYWORD-RICH PROFILE DESCRIPTION

increase pinterest followers - increase pinterest followers tips - increase pinterest followers social media - increase pinterest followers business - increase pinterest followers website

Similar to your Pinterest profile name, you want to include keywords in your profile description.

You can find these keywords the same way you found them for your profile name.

If you have a popular freebie, post, or product, it is also a smart idea to link to it in your description, as you can see in our example above.  Use bitly to shorten your link!

Don’t forget to stay true to your brand + voice!

Let’s state the obvious:  Nobody is going to follow you on Pinterest if you don’t have niche-related boards that are filled with awesome + relevant content.

So, to start your Pinterest profile off on the right foot, create 30-50 boards that are titled with keywords and have a keyword-rich description.

For example, let’s look at our board called “Personal Development.”  To find good keywords to use for this board, I simply searched the term ‘personal development’ on Pinterest.

Then, I used these related keywords to write my board description about personal development, like so:

Feel free to add related hashtags to your board descriptions and a link to any related freebies or products.

Then, it’s time to fill your boards with related pins.

7  //  ADD 50 RELATED PINS TO BOARDS

Once you’ve created 30-50 Pinterest boards, you need to fill them with related pins to ensure that Pinterest understands what your boards are about.

This is important when it comes to gaining followers, because when keywords are searched, your boards are more likely to appear if they’re filled with the same keyword.  So, this makes you more discoverable and thus increases your liklihood of gaining followers.

HOW TO GET PINTERSET FOLLOWERS - HOW TO GET PINTEREST FOLLOWERS TIPS - HOW TO GET PINTEREST FOLLOWERS FAST - HOW TO GET PINTEREST FOLLOWERS ONLINE BUSINESS2

Once you’ve finished these seven steps, your Pinterest will optimized to gain tons of new followers.

As I mentioned, once we followed these seven steps to transform our Pinterest account, our following on Pinterest increased by 1,221 users in 31 days.

So, deck out your Pinterest + then get prepped to make Pinterest pins that are proven to increase your following + traffic.

PINTEREST PRO TIP:  Pinterest needs you to tell it what your profile, boards, and pins are about, so never, ever forget your keywords!

HOW TO INCREASE PINTEREST FOLLOWERS

PART 2:  YOUR PINTEREST PINS

Okay, so, to recap:  You’ve created a business Pinterest account, enabled rich pins, and filled your profile with keyword in your name, description, and boards.  Then, you filled your boards with other people’s related pins.

Now, it’s time to design your pins – that are optimized to get clicks – to add to your keyworded boards.

For every post you have published and that you publish in the future, aim to create 3-8 unique pins (using Canva) that included these main things:

1.  Optimal size

2.  Orignial images

3.  Bold, bright, and easy to read fonts/words

4.  A call to action

5.  Your trademark

Let’s dive into the deets.

1  //  CREATE PINS THAT ARE THE RIGHT SIZE

It is crucial that you create your pins in a size that is best optimized for Pinterest.  If your pin is too small, it won’t get noticed. If it is too big, important words and calls to action will be cut off.

So, Pinterest recommends that you create pins that are 600 x 900, however I use a pin layout on Canva that is 600 x 1250.  I find that this larger size performs better on Pinterest and none of it gets cut off.

I highly recommend that you create multiple pin templates in Canva so when it comes to designing your 3-8 pins per post, it isn’t as time consuming.

To get started making pin templates, follow these simple steps:

1.  Login to (or signup for) Canva

2.  Click “Create a design”

3.  Click “Use custom dimensions”

4.  Enter 600 x 900 or 600 x 1250

5.  Start designing your pin templates

Now, the next few pointers about designing your pins are KEY to getting your pins clicked on and your follower count increased on Pinterest, so keep reading!

2  //  USE ORIGINAL IMAGES FOR YOUR PINS

Shutterstock is an awesomely affordable way to get original photographs without having to take all of your own photos.  They feature over 11 million original images on their website and because most bloggers use free image sites, it is much more unlikely that you will ever see the same image as yours on Pinterest.

Shutterstock makes it easy to brand your pins + helps you stand out on Pinterest – which will increase your follower count drastically.  It has been about a month since I started creating pins using paid stock photos from Shutterstock, and I’ve gained over 850 new followers.

Definitely worth the investment!

3  //  USE BOLD + EASY TO READ FONTS AND WORDS

Just as important as the images you use on your pins are the words you place on them.

First, it is key that you stick to using 2-3 easy to read fonts.  Also, make sure your words are big enough to be read on mobile devices!  Think about using bright colors or bolded fonts to emphasive important words on your pin.

Then, once you’ve decided on the fonts you want to use, make sure to write compelling titles that make people want to click.

To help word your pin titles, I found this kickass post by Freshly Ground Content, which features 11 blog post titles that get you tons of traffic. For instance:

  • 5 Ways To Sky Rocket Your ____
  • ___ Problem?  This ONE Thing Will Fix It!
  • Are You Making This Serious ____ Mistake?

These post title examples make great pin titles, too.  I use them all the time and have seen a drastic increase in repins on the pins worded this way.  To see the 8 other titles that encourage clicks (and follows), read Freshly Ground Content’s post.

Don’t forget your checklist!

4  //  INCLUDE A CALL-TO-ACTION ON EVERY PIN

So, you’ve created a pin thus far that has an original image and impelling + easy-to-read words on it.  But, to encourage people even more to click your pin (or visit your profile), you need to add a call-to-action to every single pin.

Calls to action to include on your pins can be things like:

  • Get Your Free ___
  • Start Your Free ___
  • Get Your Resource
  • Try ___ Free
  • Sign Me Up
  • Click to Download
  • Claim Your Free ___

You want to tell people that they need to click your pin to recieve something awesome.  So, never forget to add a call to action to your pins!

HOW TO GET PINTERSET FOLLOWERS - HOW TO GET PINTEREST FOLLOWERS TIPS - HOW TO GET PINTEREST FOLLOWERS FAST - HOW TO GET PINTEREST FOLLOWERS ONLINE BUSINESS2

5  //  INCLUDE YOUR TRADEMARK (WEBSITE) ON EVERY PIN

Ok, last, but maybe most importantly, is that you add your trademark to every single pin you publish on Pinterest.

HOW TO GET PINTERSET FOLLOWERS - HOW TO GET PINTEREST FOLLOWERS TIPS - HOW TO GET PINTEREST FOLLOWERS FAST - HOW TO GET PINTEREST FOLLOWERS ONLINE BUSINESS2

Now that you know how to create compelling + clickable pins, it is important that you remember these tips when uploading them to Pinterest.

First, you MUST save you pin images to your computer with a file name that INCLUDES KEYWORDS!

Then, add your pins to Pinterest and create a keyworded title + description.

Finally, save your pin to a RELATED + RELEVANT board! DO NOT ADD TO A GENERIC GROUP BOARD!

If you pin/post is about dealing with anxiety DO NOT add it to a group board titled “Best Bloggers On Pinterest.”  This is a very important step in ensuring that Pinterest knows what your pin is about and who to show it to.

Now, you’re ready to engage.

HOW TO INCREASE PINTEREST FOLLOWERS

PART 3:  ENGAGING ON PINTEREST

I know, we’ve covered a lot.  But like I said, nobody wants to follow a boring Pinterest account.  Or worse, nobody CAN follow your Pinterest account if it is impossible to find.

This is the last part in your journey to gaining hundreds of new Pinterest followers every single month, so hang tight.

So far, you’ve decked out your Pinterest profile and you’ve created awesome pins.  Now it is time for people to notice your awesome pins and, consequently, follow your account (and visit your website.)

Now, lastly, to get the most bang for your buck on Pinterest, you HAVE to engage.

You can engage on Pinterest + increase your following by:

  • manually pinning 2-4 times a day (check out Carly’s kickass manual pinning strategy that got me 35,000 page views my fourth month blogging)
  • commenting on people’s pins
  • adding new + related pins to your boards
  • creating new boards
  • creating + adding new pins

Actively engaging on Pinterest lets Pinterest know that you are an active and valued user, which means that your profile, boards, and pins are more likely to appear on other people’s feeds.  And, of course, if your content is flooding people’s timelines, you’re going to get new followers every single day.

(I still use Tailwind to get the majority of my pinning done, however, since adding a manual pinning strategy to my routine, I’ve gained 1,221 Pinterest followers – results I WASN’T seeing from Tailwind alone.)

PROOF OF AN INCREASE IN PINTEREST FOLLOWERS

JANUARY 2019

So, those are all the tips and tricks I used to increase my Pinterest follower by 1,221 in 31 days.

But, where’s the proof?

As I mentioned, Who Says What gained 1,221 new followers on Pinterest during the month of January.

Some weeks, we were gaining more than 50 new followers A DAY!  And, I mean, this was hella exciting because it used to take more than a month to see 50 new Pinterest followers.

Here’s some screenshots of our progress:

Phew, we made it.  All the tips and tricks I used last month to drastically increase our Pinterest following by 1,221 users.

Now, don’t get me wrong.  Numbers do not mean everything.  But, more followers means more exposure, so it is never a bad thing to work on expanding your reach on Pinterest.

And dont worry, I don’t expect you to remember all this juciy information, so don’t forget to download your checklist.

WordPress Hosting 101

wordpress hosting -- wordpress hosting tips -- best wordpress hosting -- wordpress hosting starting a blog

who is the best blog host for your business?

So, you’re thinking about starting a blog?

Great choice! (This is an awesome community to be apart of!)

In your research on how to start a blog, you’ve likely come across something called WordPress hosting.

WordPress hosting is necessary for your blog if you want to have a self-hosted website.

Which you totally do – cause you definitely want to make money from your blog, right?

So, what exactly is WordPress hosting and why exactly do I need it if I want to start a profitable blog?

Great questions!  Let’s find out…

WORDPRESS HOSTING -- WORDPRESS HOSTING TIPS -- BEST WORDPRESS HOSTING -- WORDPRESS HOSTING STARTING A BLOG

This post may contain affiliate links.  All opinions are our own.  See disclosure here.

Starting a blog comes with following a lot of steps. (Download your checklist, here.)

It’s definitely not as easy as signing up for WordPress and jumping immediately into writing blog posts.

The first things that need to happen before you can design your website and start writing blog posts are:

1. Choosing and registering a domain name, and

2. Purchasing web hosting

WordPress hosting is super important to the success of your blog because it controls things like website speed and performance.

So, you’ll want to choose a reliable hosting company…and better, yet – an affordable one!

Today, we’ll talk about:

  • what WordPress hosting is
  • why you need WordPress hosting to make money blogging
  • who you should use for WordPress hosting to start a blog
  • how to start a blog with the best WordPress hosting site

Let’s dive in.

What is WordPress hosting?

WORDPRESS HOSTING -- WORDPRESS HOSTING TIPS -- BEST WORDPRESS HOSTING -- WORDPRESS HOSTING STARTING A BLOG

So, first things first, there are two different version of WordPress:  WordPress.com and WordPress.org.

WordPress.com is an extremely limited version of WordPress that does not give you many options to customize or monetize your blog.

Hint: if you want to earn money from your blog, don’t use WordPress.com – use WordPress.org.

WordPress.org is a self-hosted version of WordPress that allows you to add themes and plugins to customize your website and, most importantly, allows you to monetize your blog.

So, in order to use the self-hosted version of WordPress (WordPress.org), you need web hosting (a.k.a., WordPress hosting).  But, what in the damn heck is WordPress hosting?!

WordPress hosting is a service provided by a hosting company that manages all the technical aspects of running WordPress.

These types of things are all dependent on your WordPress host:

  • website speed
  • performance
  • up-time
  • security

You see, this is why it is so important to choose a reliable hosting company that provides top-notch customer and technical support to their customers.

Why do you need WordPress hosting for your blog?

Like I said, if you want to earn money from your blog, you need to use WordPress.org.  And, if you’re using WordPress.org, you need WordPress hosting.

So, in short, you need WordPress hosting if you want to earn money from your blog and become the self-employed blog boss that you’ve always dreamed of becoming!

But, for real, you should be rewarded for your blogging efforts and to do that you need to monetize your blog.

Monetizing your blog is the only way to earn a living from it and that is something you cannot do unless you have a self-hosted WordPress site.

So, once you’ve purchased WordPress hosting and have started your self-hosted WordPress blog, you can monetize your site in a number of ways, through:

  • Physical Products
  • Digital Products
  • eCourses
  • eBooks
  • Ads
  • Affiliate Marketing
  • Services
  • Memberships
  • Merch

As you can see, investing in solid WordPress hosting for your blog is an important step toward launching your website and earning your first dollar.

WORDPRESS HOSTING -- WORDPRESS HOSTING TIPS -- BEST WORDPRESS HOSTING -- WORDPRESS HOSTING STARTING A BLOG

Who should you use for WordPress Hosting?

I’ve hosted my blog with two different hosting companies:  Bluehost and TMDHosting.

See, if you’ve been doing research about how to start a blog, I am sure you’ve heard of Bluehost because I found out about Bluehost the same way – through other bloggers recommendations when researching how to start a blog.

Unfortunately, though, I had a horrible experience with Bluehost (which you can read about here), and switched to TMDHosting about six months into starting this blog.

Switching to TMDHosting was the best decision I ever made for this blog (besides getting the Divi theme) because they are affordable, reliable, professional, and all around awesome.

As I said, TMDHosting is a super affordable + reliable hosting option for your website, with prices starting at $2.95/month.

And, better yet, they have amazing customer service and technical support.

I couldn’t rave more about their support teams – who have always been there to answer my questions and fix any issues I am having with my website.

See, remember how I said your hosting company should manage all technical aspects of your WordPress blog?  Well, TMDHosting gets it all done.

They will even install WordPress on your website for you, for free.

WORDPRESS HOSTING -- WORDPRESS HOSTING TIPS -- BEST WORDPRESS HOSTING -- WORDPRESS HOSTING STARTING A BLOG

So, you’ve learned what WordPress hosting is, why you need it, and who the best blog hosting site actually is.

Now, it’s time to finally launch your killer blog!

To start a blog with TMDHosting, simply follow these simple steps:

1.  Choose and register your domain name (I recommend doing this with GoDaddy)

2.  Click here to purchase WordPress hosting from TMDHosting (save 5% with code ‘GREEN’)

3.  Put in a ticket to have TMD install WordPress on your website, for FREE

4.  Choose a theme to begin designing your website (I couldn’t live without the Divi theme)

5.  Install the necessary plugins (learn more about that, here)

6.  Begin creating + promoting kickass content!

Now, this is a brief overview of how to start a blog with TMDHosting, but for a much, much more in depth explanation, head on over to our how-to-start-a-blog post!

WORDPRESS HOSTING -- WORDPRESS HOSTING TIPS -- BEST WORDPRESS HOSTING -- WORDPRESS HOSTING STARTING A BLOG

If you feel duped by all the blog posts that have told you that you can start a blog for free, I’m sorry.

I felt that way, too.

Unfortunately starting a business comes with costs, but WordPress hosting is a necessary investment that you simply cannot avoid if you want to start a profitable blog.

Luckily, TMDHosting is super affordable!

(And seriously, you cannot beat their customer and technical support.  Hands down, the best company I’ve ever dealt with in terms of support.)

So, click here to easily get started with TMDHosting!  You won’t regret it!

Website hosting is an essential key to your blogging business if you want to own a self-hosted website.

So, in order to have a website with your own domain name – that you own – you gotta purchase hosting.  There is no way around it, but that doesn’t mean you have to spend a ton of money to get the best blog hosting for your blog.

If you’re at the get-WordPress-hosting stage in your blogging game, you’ve come to the right place for our 2019 TMDHosting review to make the best decision for your new blog.

And, don’t forget to download your free how-to-start-a-blog checklist below for more insight on the steps to follow to start a money-making blog.

Are you ready to start a blog? Then you're going to need some kickass blog hosting. Choosing the best blog hosting site to start a blog with is crucial to the success of your blog, so don't take the decision lightly. Use our brutally honest TMDHosting review for 2019 to make the best decision for your blog. You'll fall in love with TMDHosting just as I did for their affordable prices, reliable hosting, kickass support teams, and fastest website speeds. #TMDHostingReview

Like I said, purchasing hosting for your blog is necessary if you want a self-hosted site (which you totally do).

For this 2019 TMDHosting review, we’ll be looking at three things:

1. Plan options & pricing

2. Customer & techincal support

3. Extra goodies

TMDHosting is pretty impressive in all three of these areas and is why we use them to host our blog.

Remember, hosting for your blog does not need to break the bank and it should be a helpful resource in your journey to starting a blog.

(Unlike our experience with Bluehost, which you can read more about, here.)

And, if you find you’re overpaying for hosting, or that your hosting company isn’t very helpful, transferring your website to TMDHosting is a breeze (which I’ll explain how to at the end of this review!)

Don’t forget your 10-step checklist to start your money-making blog in no time!

1. TMDHosting’s Plans & Prices

All hosting companies offer more than one type of hosting plan, depending on your websites needs.

For example, TMDhosting offers:

WordPress hosting, starting at $2.95/month,

Shared hosting, starting at $2.95/month,

Cloud hosting, starting at $5.95/month (my personal recommendation – worth the extra money!),

VPS hosting, starting at $19.97/month, and

Dedicated servers, which start at $79.97/month.

When comparing these prices to other popular blog hosting companies, these are spectacular prices!

And, if you’re starting a blog or other small online business, one of the first three hosting plans (WordPress hosting, shared hosting, or cloud hosting) will be your best option, so don’t freak out about the services that are $20+ a month – you shouldn’t need those.

However, if you are not sure which hosting plan would be the best fit for your business, a TMD customer service rep is always available to help you make that decision.  (They message you upon visiting any page of their website, ready for all of your questions.)

As I mentioned, compared to other hosting companies, TMDHosting has the cheapest options to start a blog with, which you can see in your free printable, here!

2. TMDHosting’s Customer & Technical Support Teams

So, TMD has great hosting plans to offer – with affordable prices.  Score!  But, is there customer service and technical support any good?

Their customer and technical support teams are out of this world, AMAZING!

The second you arrive on TMDHosting’s website, you are greeted by somebody who is ready to work with you one-on-one to guide you along the entire process of purchasing hosting for your website.

Any questions you have, TMDHosting is ready to answer.

Honestly, they are so helpful and I never ever felt like I was being sold information just to sell me a product.  They genuinely care about their customers and want to make your experience stellar.

And, once you’ve purchased hosting from TMDHosting, you’ll experience their just-as-stellar (if not more stellar) technical support team.

If you have any issues with your website or setting things up in WordPress, they are there for you.  And quickly!  Simply put in a ticket with their technical support team and you’ll get an answer within the hour.

Working with their customer & technical support teams is what sold me on my love for TMDHosting.  They are so helpful and work year round to keep my website up and running!

3. Extra Goodies TMDHosting Offers With Purchase

And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, TMD throws in a bunch of goodies.

With the purchase of any hosting plan, you also receive:

– Free application installations (like WordPress)

– Components installations (like WordPress plugins) (also free)

– Free template installation (like the Divi theme)

– Free application updates

– 32x faster website speeds than competitors

– 99.999% up-time

– Free domain name

– Free 24/7/365 support

That is a lot of free stuff, wouldn’t you agree?

It is super simple to get your WordPress blog up and running when you’re working with TMDHosting because they offer to do all the technical work for you – at no additional cost.

With TMDHosting, you don’t have to worry about all the technical aspects of blogging, so you can focus on the fun stuff – like designing your website and creating kickass content.

You can rest assured that starting and running your blog will be stress-free when you use TMDHosting – I guarantee it.

So, a lot of this post talks about the process of starting your blog and purchasing hosting for the first time.

But, if you already have a blog (hosted by another company) and are feeling like making the switch is the right choice, TMDHosting makes it crazy simple.

TMDHosting will transfer your website for FREE with ZERO DOWNTIME.

Simply purchase a hosting plan from TMDHosting and put in a ticket with their technical support team to begin the site transfer.

As I said, they’ll transfer your site at no additional cost to you and let you know when the process is finished.

I went through this process when I switched from Bluehost to TMDHosting and the process couldn’t have been simpler.  I had zero issues with my website during the transfer and since switching, my website has never crashed or operated slowly.

TMDHosting has been so great for the success of my blog – and it will be for your blog, too.

So, there you have it!  Our 2019 TMDHosting Review.

As you can tell, TMDHosting changed our blogging life.  Before, we were struggling to get by with Bluehost – constantly running into problems with site speed and uptime.

Then, we made the EASY + CHEAP switch to TMDHosting and quickly turned our blog into a money-making business.

If you want to launch a money making blog, you have to start with TMDHosting.

You won’t be disappointed.

You can get tons of Pinterest followers by following three steps to ensure that your Pinterest is set up for optimal success.

Because, let’s face it, nobody is going to follow a boring Pinterest account.

HOW TO GET PINTERSET FOLLOWERS - HOW TO GET PINTEREST FOLLOWERS TIPS - HOW TO GET PINTEREST FOLLOWERS FAST - HOW TO GET PINTEREST FOLLOWERS ONLINE BUSINESS

This post may contain affiliate links.  All reviews are our own, honest opinion.  See disclaimer here.

Our Pinterest following has been on a very steady increase over the past month, all of which happened after we changed up how we were using Pinterest.

In the month of December, we redesigned our Pinterest profile + pins, changed up how we were using Tailwind, and began experimenting with a manual pinning strategy; three things that I can confidently say increased our Pinterest following dramatically.

Our Pinterest account saw an increase in 893 followers in December 2018 and dramatically increased our page views, too.

So to get more Pinterest followers on your account, you need to focus on three main things:

1.  Your Pinterest Profile

2.  Your Pinterest Pins

3.  Your Pinterest Pinning Game

Focusing on transforming these three aspects of your Pinterest game will ensure that more people click that follow button on your profile!

DECEMBER 2018 PINTEREST STATS

Before we get into the ‘how to get Pinterest followers’ tips, let’s look at our stats from Tailwind for the month of December.

As I mentioned, Who Says What gained 893 new followers on Pinterest during the month of December, which you can see in the screenshot below. (Join the community + follow us!)

Some weeks, we were gaining more than 50 new followers A DAY!  And, I mean, this was hella exciting because it used to take more than a month to see 50 new Pinterest followers.

The growth of our Pinterest account happened at the same time we began redesigning our Pinterest + pins and as we began using Tailwind differently and with a manual pinning strategy.

So, let’s jump into the three main things we changed that resulted in a huge boom of Pinterest followers last month that is still steadily continuing into the present.

I used our Bitmoji’s with a bright yellow background from my brand as a profile picture, which I quite enjoy.

HOW TO GET PINTERSET FOLLOWERS - HOW TO GET PINTEREST FOLLOWERS TIPS - HOW TO GET PINTEREST FOLLOWERS FAST - HOW TO GET PINTEREST FOLLOWERS ONLINE BUSINESS2

6  //  CREATE 30-50 NICHE-RELATED BOARDS (TO START)

HOW TO GET PINTERSET FOLLOWERS - HOW TO GET PINTEREST FOLLOWERS TIPS - HOW TO GET PINTEREST FOLLOWERS FAST - HOW TO GET PINTEREST FOLLOWERS ONLINE BUSINESS2

Once you’ve finished these seven steps, your Pinterest will optimized to gain tons of new followers.

As I mentioned, once we followed these seven steps to transform our Pinterest account, our following on Pinterest increased by 893 users in 30 days.

So, deck out your Pinterest + then get prepped to make Pinterest pins that are proven to increase your following + traffic.

PINTEREST PRO TIP:  Pinterest needs you to tell it what your profile, boards, and pins are about, so never, ever forget your keywords!

So, Pinterest recommends that you create pins that are 600 x 1100, however I use a pin layout on Canva that is 600 x 1250.  I find that this larger size does better on Pinterest and none of it is cut off.

I highly recommend that you create multiple pin templates in Canva so when it comes to designing your 3-8 pins per post, it isn’t as time consuming.

To get started making pin templates, follow these simple steps:

1.  Login to (or signup for) Canva

2.  Click “Create a design”

3.  Click “Use custom dimensions”

4.  Enter 600 x 1100 or 600 x 1250

5.  Start designing your pin templates

The next few pointers about designing your pins are KEY to getting your pins clicked on and your follower count increased on Pinterest.

2  //  USE ORIGINAL IMAGES FOR YOUR PINS

So, it may seem like a pretty miniscule thing, but using original photos instead of free stock photos for your pins is a key way to get them to show up on people’s feeds more often.

I’m sure you’ve noticed it:  Different pins from different bloggers with the same image, but different words.  This is because the image they used is a free stock photo that everybody on the internet has the same access to, such as one found on Pexels.com or Pixabay.com.  This is bad because when Pinterest is looking for related pins to attach to your pin, it will pull other pins with the same images – even if they are unrelated.  This HURTS your pins.

So, to avoid using images that other bloggers have likely already used on their pins, sign up for Shutterstock.

5  //  INCLUDE YOUR TRADEMARK (WEBSITE) ON EVERY PIN

Ok, last, but maybe most importantly, is that you add your trademark to every single pin you publish on Pinterest.

(I still use Tailwind to get the majority of my pinning done, however, since adding a manual pinning strategy to my routine, I’ve gained 893 Pinterest followers – results I WASN’T seeing from Tailwind alone.)

Phew, we made it.  All the tips and tricks I used last month to drastically increase our Pinterest following by 893 users.

Now, don’t get me wrong.  Numbers do not mean everything.  But, more followers means more exposure, so it is never a bad thing to work on expanding your reach on Pinterest.

And dont worry, I don’t expect you to remember all this juciy information, so don’t forget to download your FREE checklist
