You can decrease your bills and save hundreds of dollars each month in only 5 minutes with Trim Financial.

Things like your cable/WiFi bill, your phone bill, and your credit card APR’s can all be negotiated for a lower cost.

And the best part?

You don’t have to be the one to do it.  Trim Financial will do all the work for you.

All you have to do is sign up, sit back, and save.

Today I’ll fill you in on:

  • what Trim Financial actually is/does
  • how Trim Financial works
  • how to get started with Trim Financial for free

Let’s do this!

>> What is trim financial?

Trim Financial is a money management tool that will help you budget better, save money, and pay off debt.

Once signed up with Trim, you will be asked to connect your checking account.

Then, Trim will analyze your spending and earnings to help you “make the most of your money” by:

  1. Negotiating Your Bills
  2. Finding & Cancelling Your Unused Subscriptions
  3. Automating Your Savings
  4. Assisting With Debt Payoff

I mean, guys, get this:

In the last 30 days, Trim has saved its users over one million dollars!

Epic right?

And, I know you want to cash in on these savings, too.

So, let’s dive into how Trim Financial will save you hundreds of dollars a month!

>> How does Trim Financial work?

As I mentioned, Trim utilizes four areas of expertise to save you money:

  1. Bill Negotiation
  2. Canceling Unused Subscriptions
  3. Automatic Savings Features
  4. Debt Payoff Assistance

Now, let me explain how they’ll save you mad cash.

1. Bill Negotiation:

Trim Financial will negotiate a lower price for some of your bills, including your:

  • Cable bill
  • WiFi bill
  • Cell Phone bill

The process of lowering your bills is super simple; just upload your bills, sit back, and watch the savings roll in.

That’s not even the best part, though:

You don’t have to call up your providers and negotiate yourself!

2. Canceling Your Unused Subscriptions

Once you’ve connected your checking account(s) to Trim Financial, they will automatically find your recurring subscriptions.

Then, simply head over to the “subscriptions” section of your account and review them.

You can easily request to cancel any subscriptions found and they’ll do the work for you!

HINT:

Already in love with Trim Financial? (I knew you would be!)  Get started now for free!

3. Automatic Savings

Trim Financial will help you add more money to your savings account through the use of ‘Simple Savings’.

All you have to do is set a price and forget it!

Then, Trim will use an automated weekly transfer system to add money into a high-yield savings account.

Ca-ching!

And, that’s not all:

Ever wonder how much money you should have saved in case of emergency job loss?

Well, Trim has an Emergency Fund Calculator that will tell you exactly you should have saved.

Simply add your monthly expenses to the calculator and bam: your customized emergency fund number.

4. Debt Payoff Assistance

Using Trim Financial to get rid of your debt is hella smart, simple, and, well, awesome.

Trim will help you with your debt in 3 ways:

  1. Automating Credit Card Payments
  2. Creating A Payoff Plan
  3. Negotiating Lower APRs

Here’s the deets:

1. Automate Credit Card Payments:

Trim will automate your credit card payments so you never miss a due date again!

This way, you’ll avoid late fees, save money, and pay off your debt faster.

2. Create A Debt Payoff Plan:

Trim will create a custom debt payoff plan for you using the debt avalanche method (the fastest way to destroy debt) so you can become debt-free ASAP.

It’s simple:

First, provide Trim with your debt information, such as how much owe and what your interest rates are.

Next, set a target monthly payment and voila – your debt avalanche payoff plan is created!

You’ll be told exactly how much to pay on each debt, each month, and exactly how long it will take you to become debt-free.

#awesomesauce

3. Negotiate Lower APRs:

Ok.  So this is definitely one of the coolest benefits of signing up with Trim.

You know this:

Having high-interest rates makes paying off your debt so. much. harder.

So, to make your debt payoff go smoother, Trim will negotiate lower APRs FOR YOU.

Simply give Trim your credit card information (the non-confidential stuff, of course), and they’ll do whatever they can to score you a lower APR!

Freaking amazing.

Is money tight?

I’ve been there! (I think we all have!)

It is absolutely no fun being short for bills or worrying about how you’ll afford dinner.

It gets better, though:

If money is tight then you need these 13 simple ways to cut expenses. Click to explore all the simple ways to cut expenses from your budget. These frugal living tips will significantly cut your expenses, improving your financial wellbeing. For example, I switched phone carriers and saved over $1,000 a year! For more ideas to cut expenses, don't miss this post. Saving money is simple with these cut expenses articles. #cutexpenses #savingmoney #frugalliving #budget

It is simple to decrease expenses from your budget and save loads of money.

I’ve got 13 budget saving tips that will save you tons of money (without sacrificing your quality of life) so you can stop stressing about money.

Let’s dive in!

1. Create A Budget

The first budget saving tip I always recommend to decrease your expenses is to actually create a budget.

Because here’s the deal:

If you don’t have a budget, you cannot know exactly how much money is coming and going each month.

And, until you have that information handy, it will be very hard to cut expenses.

So, take action:

Read this post about how to start budgeting.

Then, start budgeting! (Tips 2-4 will be much easier after.)

Don’t forget to track your budget to ensure success!

Read Next…

If you want to stop stressing out about money, then you need to learn how to budget your money.

In this ultimate guide to budgeting for beginners, you’ll learn how to set up a budget for success so you can save money, pay off debt, and more!

2. Get rid of variable expenses

Once you have a budget in place, you should have an understanding of how much you spend on variable expenses every month.

Things like food, gas, trips to Target, etc.

(If not, track your spending in a budget planner to get an accurate number to work with!)

Variable expenses are the easiest things to cut from your budget or decrease in cost.

Get started by:

Listing out all of your variable expenses and their costs.

Next, go through the list and cross off any expenses that you do not need.

Finally, research ways to decrease any variable expenses that you cannot get rid of, like food and transportation costs. (More on that soon!)

This budget saving tip saved me $150 a month!

(Monthly Expense Organizer found in our Budget Boss Binder)

3. Find lower costs for fixed expenses

To lower your fixed expenses, you’re going to do the same thing you did for your variable expense.

Firstly, list out your fixed expenses and their costs.

Now, since you can’t really get rid of a fixed expense (quickly anyway) your going to try to reduce the expense by as much as possible.

For example:

Your phone bill.

It used to cost us $110/month for our two cell phones with T-Mobile.

Then, we switched to Mint Mobile and saved $70/month.

So, take action:

Analyze your list of fixed expenses and do whatever you can to decrease (or get rid of) each one.

You have the potential to save thousands of dollars every year by doing this simple thing!

4. Track your spending (and then slash it)

Do you know how much money you spend each month on coffee?  Trips to Target?  Random late night shopping sprees?

It’s cool.  Neither did I.

It wasn’t until I started tracking my spending in a budget planner that I realized this:

It is insane how much money I was spending without even realizing it.

And, you probably are, too.

It’s a simple fix though:

Start tracking your spending in a budget planner and then stop your bad spending habits.

This budget saving tip has saved me $250/month!

This is by far the best budget saving tip, so listen up!

Taking advantage of cash back apps and reward credit cards can help you decrease expenses on stuff you have to buy.

For example, if you use Ebates, you can earn up to 10% cash back on everyday purchases – essentially saving you money.

These are my favorite cash-back apps:

Ebates:

Saving money with Ebates is super easy!

Before you shop, simply:

  • Open the Ebates App or login via Ebates.com (or connect your debit card to Ebates to skip this step)
  • Find the store you want to shop from and shop as usual

Dosh:

The Dosh app is my favorite way to earn cash back because there’s no work involved.

All you have to do is download the Dosh App and connect your debit or credit card.

Then, shop as usual and earn cash back instantly.

You can earn as much as 15% cash back on normal purchases by swiping the same card you always do.

Here’s the best part:

Dosh will give you $5 for free just by signing up and linking a card & you’ll get $5 for every friend you refer!

This budget saving tip puts nearly $100 a month back in my wallet! #ilovefreemoney

7. Get out of debt

The faster you pay off your debt, the sooner you can significantly lower your expenses.

Between school loans, credit cards, car payments, and more, your debt payments can quickly reach the thousands.

To get rid of this huge monthly burden and possibly cut your expenses in half, make a debt repayment plan.

(Debt Repayment Goals & Roadmap + Debt Repayment Tracker found in our Budget Boss Binder)

Once your debts are written down and your repayment plan is clear, you can immediately get to work paying down your debts.

To eliminate debt as quickly as possible, I recommend:

The quicker you get rid of your debt, the better off you’ll be financially.

These are 13 expenses to cut if you want to stop being poor. If money is tight you can't miss these tips to cut expenses. With these cut expenses ideas, you can save over $20k a year. So, click to read how to cut expenses without sacrificing your quality of life. Don't worry, it is easy to cut expenses, especially after these tips. Don't forget your budget planner to help you analyze spending and cut expenses. Click to read how to cut expenses so you can stop being poor. #cutexpenses

8. Start a no spend challenge

Wanna know the easiest way to cut expenses?

Stop spending money!

Stop spending money on:

  • clothes
  • shoes
  • purses
  • makeup
  • coffee
  • take out food
  • movies
  • concerts

You get it.

Instead, do free things like:

  • hiking
  • biking
  • going to the park
  • enjoying the clothes, shoes, purses, makeup, etc that you already have 😉
  • cooking at home

Start now:  I challenge you to not spend a dime for a whole month!

9. Save money on food

We all need to eat food to survive.

So, unfortunately, this isn’t an expense that you can get rid of.

But, you can cut your food bill in half.

Here are my best budget saving food tips:

Seriously, I cut my food bill in half with these budget saving tips!

10. Switch Banks

You can relate, right:

You log into your online banking and F@%K!  You’re in the negatives.

You forget Netflix was scheduled to come out, and now your $7.99 bill turns into a $35 overdraft fee.

Not cool banks, not cool. (Deny the charge goddammit!!)

So, what’s my point?

change your money mindset

My point is: you can bank, free of fees, with Chime Bank!

That’s not even the best part about Chime, though.

See, with a Chime account, you’ll get:

  • Award-Winning Online Banking
  • An Automatic Savings Feature

(Read more about why I love Chime, here!)

I wish I’d know about Chime sooner but am grateful to cut my expenses with them now.

To grab your $50 free gift, sign up for Chime here.  (All you need is your full name and email address! So easy!)

11. Do it yourself

Don’t call the plumber for your leaky sink!  DO IT YOURSELF!

Doing things yourself around the house will save your bucketloads of money every year.

I know what you’re thinking:

“Mmmmm, but, I don’t know how to fix my sink…”

Ah, well, with one small investment, you can learn how to do it all!

Seriously, for $20 you can pick up The Complete Do It Yourself Manual and learn everything (and I mean everything) you’d ever need to know about your home.

From emergency repairs to plumbing to remodeling a basement, cut expenses by doing it yourself.

(You could literally build a house from the ground up with this bad boy)

12. buy used

Cut your spending expenses in half by buying used products instead of new.

This goes for:

  • clothes/shoes
  • furniture
  • electronics
  • cars

For clothing and shoes, shop at your local thrift store.  (Especially for kids who need new wardrobes every season!)

Thrift stores are also great for used furniture, as well as Craigslist.

And, if you’re in the market for electronics, shop on Gazelle for certified pre-owned products for half the price.

This budget saving tip will save you thousands of dollars!

13. downsize

The ultimate way to cut expenses from your life is to downsize.

This is going to take the biggest effort but has the largest payoff.

For instance:

Do you really need two cars?  Or could you save hundreds of dollars a month and get by with one?

And, is your home maybe bigger than you need?

I mean, you could cut your mortgage in half by downsizing or moving somewhere more affordable.

Downsizing would save you HUGE amounts of money, so if you’re desperate to cut expenses, don’t overlook this option just because it is a little hard. (We moved from MA to upstate NY because housing is a third of the cost!)

14. live frugally

Adopting a frugal lifestyle can dramatically cut your expenses when times are tight.

Here’s the deal:

Saving money doesn’t have to mean being boring or spending no money at all.

Yup!  And, it gets better:

Frugal living is super simple.

When you use the tips in this post, you’ll be saving money on autopilot without even realizing it.

11 Surprising Things You Should Stop Buying To Save Money

Saving money is tough when we live in a world that is constantly shoving new products in our faces, tempting us to purchase with words like “need,” “can’t-live-without,” and “limited edition.”

This overwhelming need to have the newest stuff can lead to poor spending habits and maxed out credit cards.  Which, in turn, leads to huge financial stress.

So, to stop living paycheck to paycheck and stressing about money, cut these 11 things out of your budget.

We saved hundreds of dollars every month as soon as we cut these things out of our budget.

Bottom line, you must stop buying to save money!

Cutting unnecessary spending from our budget was the smartest thing we ever did for our finances.

To get an idea of where we needed to stop spending, we tracked our spending in our financial planner for a couple of months – spending per normal.  Then, we sat down with our planner and saw how much money we were spending on specific things like paper towels and coffee.

With this very clear knowledge of what we were spending our money on, it was easy to stop buying these 11 things to save money.

If you spend a lot of your money on the same items, cut them out of your budget to save money and stop living paycheck to paycheck.

Stop buying + start saving!  (Not getting a coffee from Dunks every morning is soooo worth not being stressed about money.)

1  //  STOP BUYING…WATER

Buying bottled water can add up…quick.

I mean, if you were drinking the recommended 64oz of water every day, you’d need three cases of water a week.  That’s TWELVE cases of water for a family of four every week (given you’re drinking enough water).

Don’t make this silly spending mistake!

Instead, invest in a long-lasting water bottle like a Hydroflask (I’ve had mine for 2+ years and it’s still going strong).  Also, invest in a water filter for your faucet or a Brita water pitcher.

This way, you have unlimited fresh water forever for a low one time cost.

My family of four saves at least $30.00 per week since we stopped buying bottled water to save money.

2  //  STOP BUYING…ALCOHOL

Who doesn’t like to end their day with a glass of wine?  I know I certainly used to.

But, let’s face it.  Alcohol is expensive and just plain ol’ not good for you.

A decent bottle of wine can run you upwards of $20 and nevermind the prices local bars and restaurants charge for alcohol.

So, to improve our health and fatten up our wallets, we stopped buying alcohol.

We save at least $50.00 a month since boycotting alcohol.

3  //  STOP BUYING…MEAT + DAIRY
In case you haven’t heard, eating meat and dairy is killing our planet, you, and your wallet.

The average American household spends over $100 per month on animal products.

And, as I said, meat and dairy are terrible for you and the environment.  The top three leading causes of death (cancer, heart disease, and diabetes) are all increased for you when you eat meat and other animal products.  And, methane – the gas that is primarily produced by animal agriculture – is a leading cause of global warming.

Fruits and veggies are where it’s at, peeps.

So, to save you, the planet, and your wallet, stop buying meat and dairy.

We save over $100.00 every month since going Vegan a year and a half ago.

4  //  STOP BUYING…NEW CLOTHES
I used to shop so excessively for new clothes.  And then I realized something – I only ever wear the same, like, five outfits over and over again.

So, I stopped shopping.  And then, once the kids came, I continued to not shop for new clothing.

Especially for kids who grow out of clothes so quickly, buying anything new is a total waste of money.

Instead, shop local thrift stores for new clothes or, my mother-in-law’s favorite way, in Facebook yardsale groups.  You can score an entire winter wardrobe for less than $30 by shopping second hand.

We’ve easily saved hundreds of dollars over the years since we stopped shopping for new clothes that we did not need.

5  //  STOP BUYING…PRE-PACKAGED + PRE-CHOPPED FOODS

Stores will always try to sell you on convenience, but DON’T BUY INTO IT.  (Eh, you see what I did there?)

My grocery store likes to sell lose produce and produce that has been packaged for you – for the ease.  They also sell veggies that are already chopped, again for the ease and convenience.

However, you’re always going to pay more for pre-packaged and pre-chopped fruits and veggies, so stop buying them to save money.

I mean, you can chop a few carrots, right?

6  //  STOP BUYING…PAPER + PLASTIC PRODUCTS
Not only are paper and plastic products expensive and bad for the environment, but you also go through them constantly.

Things like:

  • paper towels
  • storage baggies
  • paper plates/bowls
  • paper napkins
  • plastic utensils
  • plastic cups

Although these items are handy when you’re in a pinch, avoid stocking them in your house regularly.

We easily save $50.00 a month since we stopped buying them to save money.

7  //  STOP BUYING…MAKEUP
I rarely wear makeup, but would find myself purchasing new makeup items all the time.

So, I created a minimal makeup routine (including 4 items) and only ever purchase something new once I’ve run out of a product.

This keeps my spending on makeup and skincare items in check and has saved me tons of money since I stopped buying makeup years ago.

Trust me, you do not need to have your “face beat” for everyday life.

8  //  STOP BUYING…PROTEIN POWDERS (AND OTHER FITNESS GIMICKS)
Ugh, protein and other health powders.  I get the intrigue.  Who doesn’t wanna add a spoonful of green youth to their smoothie every morning?

But, don’t be fooled.  You can get every damn nutrient you need from fresh fruits and veggies from your local market.

You do not need powders to get enough protein to build muscle.  You just need enough healthy calories from fresh fruits and veggies, beans, nuts, seeds, grains, etc.

These gimmicky fitness powders can run you upwards of $30!  So, stop buying to save money.

9  //  STOP BUYING…GYM MEMBERSHIP/APP
Keeping up with your physical health is so important, but it doesn’t need to come with a high price tag.

Gym memberships are crazy expensive, and personally, I find exercising in the comfort of my home (with no peering onlookers) way more enjoyable.

You can get your basic gym equipment (such as weights and resistance bands) on Amazon and still have a kickass workout.

Not to mention the wealth of fitness + yoga videos available to you for FREE on Youtube.  My favorite channels are Fitness Blender (for cardio and strength workouts) and Yoga With Adriene (for yoga).

So, cancel your gym membership to save hundreds of dollars a month + get your groove on in the living room!

10  //  STOP BUYING…BOOKS
So, no.  You shouldn’t stop buying books.  (Come on, guys, I’m not a monster!)

But, you should stop buying NEW books.

You can find cheap books:

  • at thrift stores
  • at second-hand bookstores
  • at yard sales
  • on Amazon
  • from friends + family

And of course, go to your local library to enjoy books for free.  (But, I know the feeling of needing to own a book you’ve read so you can add it to your collection ;))

Depending on how much you read, you could be saving hundreds of dollars a year!

11  //  STOP BUYING…YOUR WANTS
To wrap up the post, let’s talk about the easiest way to save money that you can initiate immediately.

Before making a purchase, evaluate if it is a want or a need.  If it is a want, don’t buy it.  If it is a need, buy it but find your cheapest option first.

There is a lot of pressure every day to buy new and on-trend things – Don’t get sucked up into the promotions.

Living a simple life, free from the pressure to have the coolest stuff, is far more fulfilling than spending your every dollar on useless stuff.

These 11 things that we stopped buying to save money helped us to stop living paycheck to paycheck, eliminating the money stress in our life.

So, we hope you give it a try and stop buying these things to save money, too!
